Walk from the castle to the cathedral and just after the library on the right hand side there is a cut which takes you along the river to the old bridge. Loop back round up the bailey
Stunning architecture - one of the finest remaining examples of a Norman building. An extremely unique and interesting history - tour guides are very knowledgeable.
Beautiful with everyone being polite to show you around and explain the history and every corner of the cathedral. It is surrounded by medieval buildings used for uni offices and student accommodation
Durham Cathedral's cloisters were used in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) for scenes including the standoff between Gryffindor and Slitherin's Quidditch and between Harry and Lucius.
Great view and must-visit when in Durham. World heritage site. The university orchestra performs there from time to time, impressive! Check out the cloisters from Harry Potter.
